Alif/plif back surgery

I had alif/plif back surgery sept 30 and it's been a slow recovery so far I have lower back pain the more I'm on my feet and as the day goes on pain gets worse.I start pt tomorrow and will have my first X-ray tomorrow too.Anybody experience pain and how long will it take to go away?

  • Sounds like you had a 360 ALIF done. Keep in mind that a fusion is a major assault on your body. The pain should be subsiding some by now. Do not do any BLT (bending, lifting, twisting) or picking anything up over 5-10 lbs (or whatever restrictions your doc gave you).

You may want to try alternating bed rest, walking, standing and short periods of sitting. Ask about doing aqua therapy. You will not regret doing it!

I'm assuming your not a smoker and your not taking any NSAID's?

Several Epidurals, L4-S1 360 ALIF, Numerous Facet Joint Injections, RFA x2

I had a similar surgery the same week. I'm also in pain in my low back. I went shopping for less than an hour yesterday and came home miserable. I'm moving around really well, but still need to lay down every hour or so. Hopefully not for the rest of my life! I've had 2 X-rays and the hardware looks perfect. I don't start PT until January. It's a long road!
