New and looking for advice please

Hi I am a 41 year old female who has been experiencing a back problem for about 4/5 weeks now,I jave not seen a doctor yet as I always worry what they are going to find. I know I will have to soon but looking for some advice first.
I first noticed a soreness in my back when I had been laying on my front reading and stood to a standing position,it kinda ..felt like a sore pulled muscle on the right side,I would say its middle back on the muscle at the back of ribs...if that makes sense to the side of my body
I am not in constant pain but certain movements aggravate it more than others. If I am sitting in my car and turn to look for reversing the pain happens at the moment I lift my body up to see better out the rear window.
Also the if I roll my shoulders forward it hurys then.....it feels like a sore muscle after you've been exercising the day before but this has been going on 5 weeks so surely it should have healed if thats all it was
If I have been sitting it hurts as I go to a standing position. ..it just feels tense and sore and like a pulling sensation
Sometimes my spine itself feels sore like a tender spot on the actual bone but pain I am describing is to the side of my spine....sorry to ramble on. ..if your still reading thankyou...any advice appreciated

  • Since the pain is on the right side and it seems to bother you it may be muscular, have you tried heat. Do your ribs hurt ? Have you had a cold or cough recently? Do any over the counter meds like ipuprophen help? They have pain patches at the store that may help and you can wear them all day. I get mine at the dollar store they work just as good as the drug store ones. Write down all the specifics of your pain, and when it is better and worse, anything that help and let your Dr know. I had referred pain to my lower back when I had gallstones. I thought it just ached from throwing up.

    hi adamjames2,
Just from experience, don't rule out another problem other than spinal. I have severe osteoarthritis throughout my body and my spine included. I thought I was having more lower back issues and it turned out to be a kidney problem.
Just make sure you find the source before it turns out worse.
    Take care,
