conscious sedation

Quick background on me, I was supposed to get a trial in November but it was put on hold and it's now back on. I'm having paddles implanted in my T-spine, the part that really freaks me out is the conscious sedation, I will not be under general which to me is really weird. From what I understand a laminectomy has to be performed to insert the paddles, I've had some really uncomfortable epidurals under conscious sedation I can't image a laminectomy. Any feedback from anyone else that has done this would be appreciated.
