C2-C3 Burst Fracture Fusion. Not sure whats going on.

Hello All. I had a lot of trauma after being ejected from a motorcycle at about 45 50 MPH. I have always been in very good health and am a 53 year old male. I went to the gym, ran, biked, swimmed, ETc Etc. Any way I fractured my skull Smashed my shoulder and broke my neck in this accident on OCT. 2nd 2013. Let me tell you I felt like I was run over by a Mack Truck. The Surgery to put a plate to stabilize my C2 (Burst Fracture) and C3 vertabrae. The Neurosurgeon went through the front and did the repair. She did not take bone from my hip. She is a fairly young doctor but I kind of trust her. She says the allignment looks good and I went back to work at 6 weeks. I dont smoke. I am really worried after hearing and learning what can and does go wrong with these situations. After Eight weeks she says she can kind of see what looks like new bone growing at the fuse site. Can any one tell me what I should expect. I am still feeling discomfort such as crunching PAIN, when rotating head. Much pain at the base of my skull. Is there anything I can do to promote bone growth? Help I know it could be worse. It could be much worse. How long . Be Patient I know. HELP. Should I ask for therapy.
