I am joining this forum because I have had 6 spine surgeries......2 cervical and 4 lumbar....decompression surgery at L45 and L34-----A Fusion with titanium at L23 (TLIF)and a removal of a ganglion at level 4-5....I was never able to get off the percocet after my fusion surgery...I feel like there is something in there that is causing the continuing pain....it is getting worse causing more intense muscle spasms and stabbing pains in my groin and down my legs, particularly the left leg.
Right now I am taking Percocet 10/325---4 per day.....morphine 30mg 3 times day....muscle relaxers, antidepressants, blood pressure medicine, and others also,,,,, I have had to add in some Ibuprofen to lengthen the times between pain meds....I also take Lyrica, which I don't think does much and cost a fortune.... i am on medicare and the price of the pain meds have tripled in the last month!!! They are covering almost none of the costs...minimal at best.
Anyway......I am wondering if I should consider another surgery, since the pain is not improving.....I also have scoliosis.....I found a surgeon who says he can go in and put rods and screws in L2/3 3/4 & 4/5 ....to help straighten my spine....He says it will be a really bad surgery ---I will feel bad for a year and he cannot promise an improvement in the pain levels......I am strongly considering it because the pain levels have steadily risen over the past 2 years.....I forgot to say I am 65.....and so very scared....my life has become about watching the clock for my next pain pill.....the pain is mostly burning, but if I do much at all I get the stabbing pains in weird places, so I mostly sit. which I hate....I am a type a adult with add..
