I have been a reader of your forum for a while and I'm a week away from my 360 fusion. Specifically, anterior and posterior L4-S1 spinal fusion with instrumentation, iliac crest bone grafting and decompression. I am 34 years old, and a mother to two small children (2 and 4) and wife of 7 years. I wanted to reach out to any other young mothers who've had fusions to ask for any advice, pre-op, post-op and thereafter.
My household is dependent on me, and it is going to be a big paradigm shift for everyone when I go from being an active parent and caregiver to taking a backseat to literally everything. I have been really anxious about how this operation will change everything and I would love advice from other mothers who've had it.
I have been so anxious about this lately that I have moments when I think, what the hell am I doing? I've learned to live with the pain for 7 years, and although I'm in bad shape lately, my misery has been largely limited to my own world and I've gotten really good at masking my pain and getting on with the day. Now that is all about to change ...
Any thoughts, advice .. appreciated.
