A good diet before surgery

I'm having 360 cervical fusion (I haven't received the official surgery "name") and I wondered if anyone followed a special diet before their surgeries? I'm at a normal weight and I'm trying to keep up my exercise (walking 2 miles 3 x a week) but I always lose weight after surgery. I know with this type it will be hard to eat much, if any, solid food for awhile afterward. Any suggestions on a diet before and after would be appreciated!
