I am a 22 year old former collegiate athlete. I have had back pain for about a year now. I've had my MRI conducted on 5/14/13. Have been through PT already during the summer. My biggest problem is not resting my body and being able to do physical events now that I'm done with collegiate football. I want to stay active like running, competing in cross fit, playing basketball, playing flag football, and i cannot because of my back pain. This is very frustrating to my mental ability with stress and confusion. I've now recently understood if i don't rest and take care of this now my future life will be destroyed or i will have to have surgery which i cannot afford what so ever.
Just to give a sense, if anyone can relate-- my MRI Impression is:
-Disc bulge and left disc central disc herniation at L5-S1 with moderate compression of the descending left S1 nerve root.
-There is also moderate left greater than right neural foraminal stenosis...
-Disc bulge at L4-L5 with moderate bilateral recessed stenosis.
I have done my research and i couldn't really understand exactly what i can do to help my self during my exercises at the gym. I don't run, i don't work out my legs, and mostly every workout is sitting down or laying down. I don't put weight above my head to put pressure on my spine which basically is working out your shoulders doing presses. Furthermore, the Biggest factor is not knowing if i have a posterior or anterior bulge? If i knew this i believe i can start fixing these issues.
More information is available- If anyone has any ideas or can help it would be really be appreciated! Thanks again!
