Back in 2008, after about 13 different back surgeries I I was introduced to the pain pump. I really loved it because I was able to get off of the hard meds that kept me from functioning. Then on August 10, 2012, I got real sick. My BP ran about 300/200, I had a splitting headache, a metal taste in my mouth, and my hands and feet had a tingling in them. After 3 trips to the ER being in the bed for 30 days and losing 50 lbs, and I finally passed out in the shower, I was rushed back to the ER. My wife was told my organs were shutting down and they didn't know why. They stabilized me and after 4 days in the hospital my wife went and told my back surgeon I was in the hospital and he came to see me. The next day I had a CT Mylogram and during the test it was found my pain pump ruptured and I was overdosing on my pain meds. I had 3 different meds in my pump and it almost caused me to die. If you have pain pump be careful and ask your doctor the effects of your meds. After a total of 9 days in the hospital and 2 more surgeries I was released. Have anyone of you ever had this to happen? I have had a total of 20 back surgeries since May/2005. I just found out I am facing 2 more surgeries because I have 3 more blown disc in my neck and a blown disc in my thoracic part of my back. I just had thoracic back surgery in May /2013, now I have another blown disc. I am 42 years old. I lost my career as a Deputy Sheriff and all I can do sit in the recliner all day. Has anyone had the kind of luck that I have had?
