I am a 25 yr old low back pn sufferer (I think that is how you spell it) I suffered with lower back pain for a long time before I went to a dr. I was a tall CNA and figured it was par for the course. An MRi showed 2 bad buldging discs ( L4, L5, S1) and one badly pinched nerve and another spot on the way. I am so heart broken because everything has changed! I have been active all my life. Between hiking and camping and softball and playing with my puppy I was always doing something. I just got married this summer and my husband wants kids. I am terrified that this not an option for me.

I have tried spinal decompression, which was a total waste of time ( which i partially blame the chiropractor I went to) and have had one spinal injection which is wearing off as I type. I know I need to get another one and am not against it because it helped for 4 mos before it started wearing off. I an nervous about having kids with this condition. anything will help! thank you in advance!

I have severe Spinal Stenosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and scoliosis. I have tried p/t, steroid injections and pain meds and muscle relaxors. The steroid injections worked great for about 6 months. I am now told that it's risky to put any more steroids into my body, the doctor wants to try Radio Frequency Ablation. Has anyone had this procedure done?

Take one thing at a time.
But before I start, there are plenty of women out here who have had spinal surgeries, perhaps more than one and still had childbirth and have been raising their family. Also you will find so many members who have had multiple surgeries and they still get involved with Camping an other activities. I've had 7 Spinal surgeries and have had my Shoulders and Hips totally replaced. I had to stop the softball (but that was only because of my shoulders), but I can still hike and camp-out. I do need to modify some of the hiking I can do, so I dont put myself in harms way. So, dont think those black clouds at this point.

The MRI indicated bulging disc, which you will soon find here is such a common term. Its really a catch all phrase as to what can go wrong with a spinal disc. The levels you are talking about are probably the most common you were hear about. Since, you didn't mention surgery, I have to assume your doctor does not feel that it is necessary at this time.
Many patients have disc problems and have been treated conservatively (ie Spinal Injections, Traction, Physical and Aqua Therapy, etc) and never had to have surgery. The disc actually started to heal themselves.

I would sit down with your doctor and go over short and long term outlooks regarding your condition. Talk to them about what treatments are available to you and what about surgery... Could it happen? When will it happen? What are the Pros and cons

I would start reading some of our medical articles on Spine-Health. That along with the many videos can help explain things in detail... Look at: Herniated Disc

And for the down to earth forum threads and posts, take a look at our FAQ
