I recently saw a neurosurgeon regarding possible discectomy-fusion. He said a two level C-5,6 discectomy-fusion would be warranted after examining my MRI Film. He finally recommended a second opinion. I had an appointment with a second neurosurgeon. He said in my case it would be very risky. He said the size of my neck and my age were the major factors. I am 61 (almost 62) and I guess have a large neck. Both surgeons recommended I have more nerve block injections.
I have had these injections several times. Each time they would work no more than 6 weeks, then all my pain would return. One injection did not work at all.
I'm thinking of going back to my neurosurgeon who did my lumbar laminectomy. He had me in surgery within 4 weeks of the first time I saw him. I'm tired of the expense of the injections. They inject into my cervical spinal canal/column. They are expensive an risky in themselves.
