I went for a cervical and Brain MRI this past Tuesday and the surgeon called today with the results. I was floored at what I was told.
I have a sever herniation at my C6-7 that is causing spinal cord compression as well as nerve compression. I have a pre op appointment scheduled for the 14th and an ACDF scheduled for Feb 6.
I'm totally floored because my leg pain has been so bad for two years and although I have DDD and herniation at L5-S1 I was told that possibly my neck may be root of my leg pain, numbness, tingling, loss of balance and all of the other wonderful symptoms. Of course, I don't want to get over optimistic that it will fix my problem I'm hoping that I have dodged the lumbar fusion.
Has this ever happened to anyone? I've done all of my research on lumbar fusion and now I need to start over with cervical fusion. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any advise or insight.
Looks like I'll be joining the February surgery buddies.
