I am a new member. I got diagnosed with disc herniation in L5-S1. I opted for Microdiscectomy and was operated on Dec 03. After having significant pain in the 6 weeks of recovery in my right leg (sciatica) as well as a horrible lower back pain that causes debilitating issues in walking. Like let us just put it this way that I cant even walk for a block. Or if I am in a sitting down position then making myself get up is of extreme difficulty. Almost like a pelvic lock. Cant go forward and cant go behind. Also I cant sit for more that 5 minutes. Only position I can sit in is on a recliner. This episode lasted for about 2 weeks now. It started week of december 25th. Then the neurosurgeon ordered an MRI last week and he seems to think there is fluid build up at the surgery site. My pain management specialist has started me on methyl prednisolone (steroid) and has helped bring the pain down and also the pelvic lock seems better. But does any body else experience things like this post surgery?
I have read up some postings that say facet joints may be inflamed or whatever. But I cant seem to understand if this is truly due to inflamed facet joints or due to the fluid build up.
