Back surgery scar pain

I would never have thought my back pain was from scar tissue. I went to pt exam and treatment. At first I did not have much faith in Pt as they have not helped much in the past. I chose my doctor's physical therapy in his building which is part of a very large Orthopedic group here in Illinois. Let me tell you, from the start this younger guy knew what my pain could be from. Scar tissue. I've had two fusions. I'm fused l2-s1. He did massage and other modalities and really worked on the scar tissue along both sides of my spine. What a difference. I was able to cut back on my pain medication. I had to stop therapy because I got sick for a month and now I'm starting up again. Now, I'm having pain at where they took out my left bone graft ( I think ) it's like a searing pain in only one spot and boy does it hurt. I'm hoping he will know what to do. I'm happy I went back to pt.

  • I never try pt before, so have no idea if it is useful to my lower back pain. The best way for me now is massage. I‘m so happy it works for you. I’m truly understand how it feels when pain.

Pt is good. I have tried it before when I was suffering with lower back pain too. You just need to choose a credible one. Have you heard about chiropractic care? I can recommend one but feel free to research the net about it.

I've been In/Out of Physical Therapy for over 35 years now. I do believe in physical therapy, it is so important after surgery.
Take a look at this PT Made Simple

That is not a medical guide to PT, but more of a personal whats it all about type thread.

I know when Physical Therapy is helping and I also know when Physical Therapy attempts to go beyond what a patient needs. That is a personal situation and unfortunately there are no guidelines. For me, having all the surgeries and various PT sessions, I have a good understanding of my body and when I am told to do something that I know is going to trigger off another problem, I let the therapist know, we stalk and they back off. But thats not just done because some PT sessions hurt, there is a major difference.
