Underwent ACDF for age-damaged cervical vertebrae 3 months ago. Disc removed. Pain symptoms cleared. Now they are returning. Hands and arms weak. Some pain in neck. With any head movement, as brace allows, I hear cracking sounds. Neurosurgeon took plain film of my neck and announced it's not healing, you wil have to have surgery again, this time not anterior but posterior approach. I asked for another MRI first. Won't know the results until appointment in a month. Symptoms slowly progressing. I lost thirty pounds following surgery, mostly muscle mass. Have regained little. Knowing that symptoms likely to be worse, with prolonged healing time after posterior approach to surgery, I am looking for another approach. My wife was in a major car accident and suffered severe head injury four years ago. I am her sole care giver.
