have these ESI;s been done? Many doctors and insurance companies will only allow 3 a year.
Take a look at Spinal Topics - Item #3 From there you can read more details about Spinal injections.

I have not heard about the bloating or weight gain from these spinal injections. I do know that more frequent usage of cortisone ( predisone ) can cause the bloating and weight gain. But for most people that is only temporary.

  • Hi there,
I am new here and have similar issues.
I have DDD, bulging disks that are pinching my nerves. lumbar and sacrial. I have had the injections 4 epideral, 2 spot shots. ( I DO NOT KNOW THE TECHNICALTERM) 3 were lumbar 3 were sacrial. I am done with shots as they have BALLONED UP. As well as they are not working. I ahve tried PT that aggrivated it. I have been thru docs, as they were first trying to find DX as first symptoms werr not back pain.
Now that we have the dx, and all the shots, my doc and I have found a regimine that is making life bareable.. in the meantime I have gained so much weight, and really have tried to loose at least some and yet I cannot get it off. I have been getting more excerize, and moving more in general. My last epideral injection was just 3 or 4 weeks ago.
SO MY QUESTION IS...... How long does it take for the side effects of the steroids to wear off?
  • in a few days to a few weeks. The steroids increase your appetite, as part of the side effects, so you really need to be more watchful of the types of foods that you consume and how much of them throughout the day as well.
It is a temporary problem that usually goes away on it's own.
