Hi. I went searching for resources and information for my 78 year old father who started his back pain issues in 2010. He had two auto accidents that screwed up his back. He had a L1-L4 fusion surgery in 2011, but did not follow up with his neurosurgeon but maybe once. In the last few months, his manageable chronic pain became unbearable. In November we found he had a compression fracture at T11. That was supported and fixed with vertobroplasty. BUT currently my brother and I are watching him, taking care of him, and finding any doctor that will look at the reasons why he got the same unbearable pain again on Jan 3.
So far, he's gone to a couple ER's with a few doctors (neurosurgeons, and orthopedic spine surgeons) looking at his MRI, CT and X-rays. They all said there is nothing they can do. No new acute fractures, no signs of anything that is wrong. They referred him to see the original surgeon that performed the lumber fusion. Well, my father refuses to see that doctor. A couple said he should just see pain management practice and call it good. He isn't accepting that as the only option.
Thus, we are looking for another opinion.
I love this site and all the information and support it provides. I hope to find some guidance and education for myself and my father. thank you all
