Six week post-op ALIF pain

I had my ALIF surgery on Dec. 13, 2013. Today is Jan. 22, 2014. My concern is pain I have while walking. I can't seem to stand up straight and walk without my pain at about a 5-7 level.
The Dr. that performed the surgery was the one who invented the Cage procedure. I had my first follow-up visit yesterday. He wants me to go back to work part time next week for two weeks and then return to full time.
In addition he wants me off all pain meds. Yesterday was the last time I took any. I was down to a Hydrocodone 5/325 Acetaminophen and two 500mg Acetaminophen tablets twice daily.
He said that my pain is muscular pain since he said the surgery was a success.
The surgery was done at the L5-S1 level. I am a 48 year old male in very good shape.
Just wondering if others have had the same pain while walking and how long it lasted.
