since cellilitus causes pain when one gets it i guess this is the correct form with my question. i know it can come back but holy cow, over the course of 10 months, i have gotten it 6 times, almost once every 6-8 weeks. i was put in the hospital for 4 days and given iv antibiotics but it came back. i was put into the er, but the dr only gave me one dose of iv antibiotics over the day. i finally left when they wanted me to wait 8 more hours for an mri. i had one later on which showed no infection in the bone or elsewhere. i got one again a couple of weeks ago when i banged my leg on a piece of metal, opened it up and have a scab about an inch in diameter. i was given oral anitbiotics and they seem to help. my leg will swell about 3 inches in diameter more on occasion but no infection. my doctor seems perplexed and i was also referred to an arterial surgeon who sent me to therapy for the swelling which did not help. anyone have this problem and what did they do to control or get rid of it. i know if it gets real real bad, i could lose the leg which now seems to be good to me. this leg has not been the same since my last fusion 4 years ago. immediately it swelled with fluid dripping out of it.it was lymphatic fluid. the dr thinks that the fr screwed up my system when i had the fusion.
I have 4 fusions from L5-3, the latest last May '12 where they fixed my disc that broke. They went through my side this time. I take 40 mg of oxycontin 4x a day and 4 fenatyl lollipops 300 micro gms 4x a day.
