It's almost midnight where I am and I'm still awake from chronic pain, most recently from a lumbar decompression and stenosis surgery. I had surgery on 12/27/13 and was discharged on 12/31. All of this began with Cauda Equina Syndrome in March 2013 that required emergency surgery. I'm frustrated as all of the prescriptions I have do not work anymore. I was only able to bump up my pain mgmt appt by a week. Ive had complications following both surgeries, reherniation and broken off pieces of spine. I'm looking at a fusion most likely from L4-S1. I'm super bummed that the meds no longer work and no longer make me sleepy so here I am wide awake at midnight with leg, hip, butt and back pain all on the right side. I'm very frustrated that I cannot get comfortable. I was given valium as a muscle relaxant from the hospital. I took my dose 2 hours early in hopes of it knocking me out at least, but no such luck.
Anyone else out there ever in pain and can't sleep? Ideas please!
