I am 4 weeks out from 4 stage cervical fusion [3-7]. I won't repeat all of the problems because I believe that I've experienced every problem that has been mentioned before by other bloggers. Let me say that it helps to know that you aren;t alone and that it seems to be a common problem with this type of surgery. A word of warning though; because of the trouble swallowing, I became severely dehydrated and was rushed to the emergency room with no readable pulse. Lots of fluids by IV saved me. A little trick that I have found for swallowing; if I take a small mouthful of food, a certain percentage will get stuck. If I take a large mouthful of food, most of it will be forced down the throat and the same amount as a small mouthful will be left behind. It works for me; good luck with that for you! I've also had lumbar fusion and it was a piece of cake compared to this.
