My husband has been diagnosed with right c7 radiculopathy. The Neuro Surgeon has suggested a c6-c7 ACDF surgery.
He has had pains, numbness, tingling in the right hand/arm (since 3 years). He underwent PT for 8 to 10 months; had been taking medications for a while; icing the neck area; and also wears a neck collar. He has rigorous to mild twitchings/fasciculations in his right forearm since one year.
Currently he has pains in the right arm and some muscle loss at right arm tricep along with continued twitchings.
The primary care Doctor as well as the Neurologist (he had his EMG/NCV done too) are not keen on surgery, have asked to wait for a couple of months, check for aggravating symptoms.
So, the dilemma is that, is surgery necessary at this point of time? and if he does not opt for surgery now, will that be too late, and eventually he needs to have surgery done. And can the muscle loss and fasciculations spread to other parts, like left arm, legs?
Thanks in advance,
