there are some things posted on this board that are repeated by more than one poster, my pain level is a 10 or above, i can't get a good pain doctor, no one wants to hear my, etc. another item that i seem to see posted a lot is people going to the ER for back pain. i frankly don't get it. like it was once said, lucy, ju got sum splainin to do. first of all a few people say i go to the ER and tell them i don't want drugs. well why go in the first place? the ER is for emergency treatment and not to be a primary physician. it is a triage for people who need to be registered in the hospital. frankly another thing i don't understand is that a visit to the ER can cost thousands of dollars with or without other treatments. your regular doctor visit can be under $100 depending if one has insurance. why pay a thousand dollars instead of a hundred or sol also a family doctor has your records and the ER does not. they don't know your history. a mri at the ER is much more expensive than one through your doctor. and finally why go to the ER if you don't want meds? this is to me a red herring. there is not reason to go. so finally, some one please explain why one needs to go. one also gets a reputation as a frequent flyer if one goes too much. the word will get out that so and so goes to the ER all of the time and doctors will hear this and it will be harder to get treated if you get a bad reputation. i hate to say it, but the only reason doctors think people with back issues go to the ER is to score drugs. this is what doctors think. my pain doctor says this is the reputation repeat visits to the ER mean. so, it is much more expensive, there are no records, it is for emergency and triage and not to get more meds. i also hear from some that i ran out of meds so i had to go to the ER. well don't run out of meds. you need to take them as directed by a doctor and not self medicate. if you signed a contract then you are really up the poo creek without a paddle.
