I have interior and exterior hardware from C3-T3. I had fractures and herniations. Now right below when my head and neck connect, I am in constant muscle spasm. The doctors call it a type of dystonia and say that the spasms and pain are the result of being "flayed" open twice from the back. Not the hardware.
I have no muscle tone. I can't lift a chair.
I asked my surgeon to remove the hardware and he said that doing so would not stop the spasms and pain. So the course of treatment is I am getting a neurostimulator, physical therapy, and counseling since my life is ruined and I am disabled.
Has anyone had hardware removed that improved their situation? Does the stimulator, pain management, PT, and counseling sound like a better path. I can't stand the thought of being cut open again.
