I am disabled due to spinal stenosis caused by a narrowing of the canal and disk osteophyte complex and C 4-5 and 5-6' My Torg's ratio is .65.
I have read and know personally of too many horror stories about spine surgery. My cousin recently had a C 6-7 fusion and things went OK for a month or so but now he is far worse. Two friends of mine had ESI. One almost died because they injected into his blood and the other has arachnoiditis form the injection. I recently found out that the solutions doctors inject for ESI are not FDA approved for that use. That sort of recklessness by the medical industry scares me.
My cousin's fusion was ACDF with instrumentation. He got a PEEK cage a plate and some screws. I read that fusion with instrumentation is less effective has a higher failure rate and more problematic than a bone graft and that the reason it is done is because many spine surgeons have a financial interest in the medical device companies.
Knowing what I know I simply don't trust the spine industry.
I am looking into MISS and trying to find a reputable surgeon to see if I can get some relief.
