Failed Medial Branch Blocks

Hi all, Im new to this form but I was just wondering what happens next when the medial branch blocks have failed. Im still in pain (when walking). I've gone through all the usual steroid injections for the last few years but nothing ever really works.

6 days ago I had Bilateral L3, L4, L5, S1, S2 and S3 blocks and I feel the same as if I'd never had anything done.

I like walking and doing me bits and pieces but this is sooooo annoying.

So anyway I'm due to see the consultant again next Wednesday (8 days time).

So what comes next ??? There MUST be something else beside a bone fusion !!!

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I have had an SI Joint Dysfunction for over 15 years and have seen over 40 doctors. I just turned 50, and now I am on and off of a walker. I have had many MRI's which never show a thing. Gobs of tests which show nothing either. I was receiving Steroid injections 4 times per year which kept it in check but recently with the Obama care, my Insurance company now denies all procedures which maintained this problem. Got to love that! I want it cut off, yes you heard me cut out. My current Doctor is a Pain Management Specialist, who at this point has scheduled me for the procedure you just had. He claims I am not a candidate for surgery. I was hoping with all of my might that this procedure would work because it is the next step for me. He will go in to cauterize my nerve endings. I did decide to see another Orthopedic specialist for a 2nd opinion about this procedure and of course he wanted an MRI with and without contrast. Like usual nothing shows up. He did say he would do what my current doctor is trying.

I have tried physical therapy to strengthen all muscles around my back but when I do I am on fire and on a walker for days. I simply can;t do it. I have changed my diet to keep the inflammation down, I have tried so many things its frustrating to say the least. I am DENIED by my Insurance company to have any torodol shots or steroid injections, basically all the things I did for over 15 years to allow me to at least walk and work but have all now been taken away and I am left to rot. I am fortunate as I am able to work from home because I would not be able to be a dependable employee. This thing has gotten so much worse over the past year and I can't figure out why?

All these years I maintained this SI Joint hyper mobility problem with many Chiropractors because doctors could not figure it out and always mis diagnosed me so Chiropractic care twice a week keeps me out of a wheel chair. But now I am on and off a walker headed down permanent disability road. I hope for your sake you are a candidate for surgery as there nothing else left as per all of my research.

As for me, I am scared out of my wits, I must work to support myself and if I can't walk I can't work. If nothing shows up anywhere I certainly will not be able to even get disability. My life has been completely ruined because of this. I used to be so athletic and loved water sports and did all those things with my son, but I have not been able to do anything of the sort for years now. I consider myself lucky if I can get out bed each morning.

Please let me know if you find anything else beyond what I described and what you tried. I am desperate and I am so over being in such horrific pain every single day. I wish you all the success for what you try next.
