Some members have posted external links and then my moderator team has gone in to edit and remove that link. Then we also have situations when someone posts an external link and that is allowed.
So, that can be confusing to members. This is what our rules state:Guideline for Including Links/Outside Material in Forum Posts
No posting links to advertisements or as solicitations of business.
No posting links which are not relevant to the applicable forum topic.
No posting material that infringes on the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of others or on the privacy or publicity rights of others.
Any outside content or material directly quoted must include a reference to the location the source from which it came.
The moderator team reserves the right to edit any post
Sometimes even those rules can be confusing. Lets say if you post an external link to a large media company such as CNN. The article that you want people to read is fine, but in that link somewhere down the line is some marketing items which could be considered solicitation. We will look at those to make sure, but most of the time, that is ok, its a form of harmless marketing.
Then we have situation where a member may post an external link to a medical site that provides videos, articles and details regarding a treatment or condition. We ask members to pass that by the moderator team first. The Spine-Health medical team would like a chance to review that, one to see if it is accurate and two, to see if we do provide that information on Spine-Health and show everyone how to get to it OR if we dont have, figure out how to get that information directly into Spine-Health. So, bottom line, give us a chance to review those type of external links
And as always, when it doubt, contact one of the moderators
