neck injury pain

Hi I'm new to this so forgive me if I make a mistake!! I joined this site in desperation for my son who's 21 years old. He had an accident when he was 16 when he was in a friends car. His friend was driving when he hit another car head on. Brad (my son) hit the windscreen with his head and broke it, cutting his eye badly. He was taken to hospital where they performed an emergency operation on his eyelid which had been sliced through. Luckily he wasn't blinded. However, his neck and head weren't examined and he was discharged the next day. Although he had pain we assumed this to be whiplash. He then had to have further surgery on his eye so we were concentrating on this for a long time. Eventually after getting migraines pain in his arm and severe neck pain he had physio etc. But the physio was too painfull so he saw a spinal specialist and had an MRI scan it was then we discovered an historic neck fracture. Brad had two injections in his neck which didn't work, he's had appointments at a pain clinic and taken various pain relief which now upset his stomach, and been told by the spinal doctor there's nothing more can be done. He suffers with tinnitus constantly, is in severe pain constantly and feels life is just unbearable. we have been paying for accupuncture which does help for a brief time. I'm very worried for him now as he is very angry and very low. Please can anyone help?

I'm sorry for all that you all are experiencing. I'm not sure what kind of doctor you are currently seeing with your son but I strongly encourage you to go to the nearest big city hospital near your home and consult with both at least one board certified ortho and neuro spine surgeon. The reason that I am suggesting that you go to the big city near you, is because those surgeons tend to deal with the more complex and trauma related cases and have access to the latest techniques and advances that may help your son.
Don't give up hope. There is a link at the bottom of my post that gives you an outline of the steps to getting spine pain treated.......this will give you an overview of what they may offer as options.
