Pain that swaps sides.

I have had a discectomy on L4/5 and I have pain that has swapped swapped sides before and after surgery in 09. I'm having sciatica again in my left leg, but when my pain swaps sides my left leg sciatica immediately disappears and my right side only has minor issues.

I recently seen a Dr. and he immediately said I need a fusion because of the disc getting shorter but the MRI images look the same as a previous MRI I had in 2010 so I'm not convinced on the fusion.

I think there could be a small piece of disc that herniated out that may be causing my sciatica.

Has anybody had pain that swapped sides like me?

  • Yes I too have it swap. One flare up it's my left next it my right. Over last 9yrs it's been mostly my left but MRI shows a disk herniation on the right side. No one knows exactly what is going on. It's been tough. Just had a new MRI and will go to hospital for special surgery. Hopefully they can figure this out.
