Hip/Leg issues after L4-L5 Lamin. and L5-S1 Diskectomy (right)

I am 7 weeks post op from a L4-L5 laminectomy and L5-S1 Diskectomy (right), I had a herniated disc, severe spinal stenosis, and sciatica. I am 33 years old, in my past I have been sedentary which has attributed to my weight problem. The surgery has given me the motivation to lose weight, I have a lost 10 lbs but have a ways to go. Anyways, I have noticed that I am getting this weird feeling like my leg/hip area is inflamed. I noticed that I have a tendency to clench that area if you will, a lot and it makes this inflammation worse. The pain doesn't bother me when I walk with my tennis shoes but when I wear athletic sides around my house it does exacerbate the problem. I told my surgeon about this at my 6 week check in and he wants me to start physical therapy. It's not excruciating but it's bothersome. Has anyone had an issue like this? I feel like my gait is off, I know that pre-op I used my right a lot to compensate for the fact that my left leg was pretty much numb, I feel like my right is still programmed to continue doing this even though my left leg is strong again. Any advice would be helpful.
