weakness in both arms/pain in upper back

Hi, I'm new here. I began to experience a slight weakness in my arms a few weeks ago. However,
I now have a worsening of the weakness. It is difficult raising my arms to do things such as iron, drive,
hang up clothing, etc. I even had trouble pressing the buttons on the tv remote. I also have pain in the upper/center area of my spine. I don't know what's going on. I didn't injure myself. So far I've had a cpk test which is normal. I also had a spine xray at the er which was normal and was told I needed an MRI. But unless I had paralysis &/or other problems, I would have to have one as an out patient which I completely understood as they were really backed up. I would like to know if anyone has experienced weakness along with upper back pain and what the problem or cause was. Actually when the dr pressed on different areas of my spine, it hurt, but it mostly hurts in the upper
center. Thanks for any info you can provide.
