I am started this thread as a result of some discussions about a new medication.
But I really believe that the over all topic of the impacts of drugs is so important.
- Abusers of Prescribed Medications
- Drug Seekers, those in pain, looking for more
- Drug dealers
- Youth and Drugs
And of course, What can be done about the above?
I live in a relatively small town in CT, but in the past 5 months we have had 3 deaths due to Heroin overdose, and these were high school kids!
I grow up in the '60s and '70s and we all know about the drugs during that era. I admit, I was no angel, I had my real long hair, peace signs, etc. But for some reason it was more of a peaceful thing, at least from what I saw and experienced.
As time when on, you would hear about abuse in sniffing glue, and stealing pain medications to snort them. Then as the '90's rolled out, cocaine seemed to be the choice of drug to use,
Then came free basing, and much more. ecstasy and more.
In the past 5 years or so, the emphasis seems to be centered around legal drugs, all the various pain medications available.. People can abuse them, people can seek them out, drug dealers can sell them, etc
I know we could all come up with ways to stop this, but is that the answer. Is it education? I dont know.
I would like to hear members input about this.
But as I stated before in the post I talked about this: No Politics, No Religion will be allowed in these discussions.
