A little history of my injury: I had an injury about 8 months ago. I have a small herniation in my L3-L4. When it first happened, I couldn't stand for more than 20 seconds without such horrid pain down my leg. After MRI and numerous doctors appointment, I had an epidural. After my first epidural, I got my life back. However, I still had a considerable amount of pain down my leg, weakness in my leg and numbness in my knee area. Pain management suggested another Epidural. I had 2 additional epidurals with little to no additional relief. I also had a EMG, nerve test and was told I have chronic nerve damage.
So my question is, do I have surgery. I met with 2 surgeons and both said that there is a 50/50 chance I will get some improvement. First surgeon said he wouldn't do it with those odds. The second said he would do it, but he can't guarantee any relief. The herniation is small, but obviously it is pinching a nerve. I still have pain in my leg, loss of feeling around my knee and weakness when climbing up or down stairs. I am trying to get pregnant and my fear is this could get worse and then I couldn't even do an epidural/pain meds or surgery. I just don't know what to do. Would love some input.
