Sciatic Numbness Without The Pain

So I'm already schedule for an MRI, but I wanted to see if someone else here has had the same experience I'm having, and what your diagnosis is.

I work as a Nurse's Assistant, and ended up having to lift a 200 lbs dead weight woman about 6 months ago. My back obviously hurt, alot - for about two weeks, I ended up needing to pick up a back brace but the pain never reached a debilitating point. I've had lower back aches since then, but nothing horrible up until about a month ago. I noticed a numbness in right my toes, which centered around the web between my big and second toe. In the beginning it felt more like I was wearing a thick wool sock when I touched it, but the numbness has increased to the point that I can't feel it when I touch my toes at all. (In case you're wondering, I can feel when I pull out a toe hair LOL.) The numbness has started to migrate up my foot, and sometimes it tingles, and when I'm carrying or lifting something heavy, I can feel the numbness up to my knee. It also seems to get worse when I drive for long periods of time. I don't have any pain in my legs. Every once in a while the left side of my groin will go very numb, but this numbness typically goes away within 10 minutes.

I've had multiple health issues where I haven't been given the treatment I needed because the tests were "inconclusive," and I'm worried that this will just be another one of them that I have to fight for treatment.
