Hi! My name is Connie, I'm 39. I was diagnosed with lower lumbar spinal stenosis approx 6 years ago, since then the progression has increased incredibly, I now have pain every single day. I work full time in a Residential Care Facility, in my 13th year :) Although I love my job, I am realistic that I won't be able to continue for much longer in this field.
When I was first diagnosed it took 3 MRIs 3Xrays and 2 CT scans to figure out what was wrong. I went to a specialist who said I was too young to do any surgery, so for 5.5 years I just continued my regular days increasingly getting more difficult every day that passed. About 6 months ago I got referred to a Pain Clinic and from there Physiotherapy. My Physiotherapist told me right off the bat that he didn't think I had spinal stenosis and he thought it was a slipped disc, so with that, he began treating me for a slipped disc for 3 months, I had exercises, traction, and finally acupuncture. Worst mistake of my life, I only had about 3 sessions of acupuncture when I noticed terrible sharp pains that go down either leg or both at the same time to my knees, feels like thousands of needles, sharp pains.. I lay down it feels better but sitting doesn't help anymore. Where would I work that I could lay down every 1/2 hour or so? So that's my story, I'm looking for similar situations and any pain relief that could help, I use medical marijuana, rest and my lovely bean bag, but nothing takes the pain away!
