I am 70-years old and have been cursed with sciatica and arthritis for the past eight months. An MRI and X-rays sent me to the neurosurgeon where I learned the discs of L4 and L5 are in a terrible condition. One is almost gone and the other greatly deteriorated . I am fortunate that I can sit in complete comfort, but standing and walking are quite painful. Sleeping, too, has become nearly impossible.
In looking for a chair to replace the overstuffed one in my living room, I visited a LA-Z-Boy store today and sampled their recliners. 'What's not to like' was my general reaction as I sank in comfort while rocking and reclining. My thought is to be able to lean back and snooze on those occasions when it hurts to lie in bed.
Next, I heard the soft design of the recliners would be bad for my spine. I don't know if that's true, so I'm asking for input from you folks in this forum. Any advice would be appreciated.
