Hi all, I am new to this forum. Be kind
........ I have been diagnosed with Degenerative disc disease. I am a young 46 years old. I have had various herniated discs and bulging discs. I have been on strong painkillers for about 10 years. I have a high pain threshold but it is wearing me down. My occupation doesn't help either. I'm a motor mechanic, so bending and lifting are a regular part of my day. Recently my doctor has suggested a cortisone shot to relieve the pain. I'm concerned about the side effects of the shot but my biggest concern is that if I can't feel the pain and I continue working, will I do damage that I can't feel and will it end up being worse in the long run ? Several doctors have suggested I find something else to do, but I'm not trained in anything else and jobs are very scarce were I live. (Cairns, Queensland Australia).......... Any thoughts ?
