Post Op Granulation

MicroD l4-S1 almost 11 weeks ago. I have had issues and I felt that something was wrong after about a week out of surgery so I received a MRI at 10 weeks.

My report came back with a disk bulge on both disks (4.5mm and 5mm) and on L4 I have 7.6 mm caudal soft tissue intensity, extruded disk vs post-operative granulation effacing left lateral recess with possible indentation on descending left L5 nerve root.

Essentially they say on MRI they cant tell whether the 7.5 mm tissue is extruded disk or post op granulation.

Does anyone know what granulation tissue is? I have read reports that say it is scar-tissue and I have read some reports that say it is the inflammation precursor to scar-tissue.

I read a great story on another forum with similar MRI language to mine that an ESI cleared up the inflammation and was relatively back to normal. Does anyone have any stories on swelling 11 weeks post OP?

Thanks for reading.
