Lower back pain

I am 34 yrs old and in the past 5 years I have been experiencing severe lower back pain. A little history about myself... I have always had back issues since I was a teenager. I dont quiet remember why but around the age of 16 I use to see a Chiropractor. They use to do something with my back where it cracked then I would have to sit in a comfy chair for about 15 minutes before leaving. Sorry my memory about that period of my life is hard to remember but I think they were aligning my back (I think...).

Fast forward and I am at the point where I cannot stand more then 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Then I get pressured feeling which turns into pain and I have to sit down. Yes I am overweight and short. I'm only 5'2" and 270lbs. I am sure my weight doesn't help the situation but I dont think that is the main source of this pain (but I could be wrong).

I saw a Chiropractor a few years ago thinking it would help but it hasn't. While I was seeing that Chiropractor he took x-ray's. He gave me a chart which says Thermo Graphic at the top and a summary. It states I have "Phase One" Misalignment (Subluxation). The Thermo Graphic chart shows my C1 is High and my T5, T6, T8, T9, T11, T12 are Medium-High. I dont know what any of that means but that is the results I see on the chart. I stopped seeing the Chiropractor for a few years. Then last year I briefly saw a new Chiropractor again and he said I had Scoliosis and minor arthritis in my lower back.

All my pain and discomfort is definitely in my lower back area. This is horrible because I cant go anywhere where I have to stand for long periods. I can't really "Live" like I want to and tired of being in pain.

I am lost and hoping someone might have some advice or comments???

Thank you so much

  • I don't have any experience with those specific issues, but my best advice is not to give up. Get an mri, get into PT, talk to specialists. It took me quite a few specialists to finally figure out the real cause of my back pain. Don't lose hope!
