My name is Shuna and I am 59 years old. In April 2012, I had a laminectomy on T8/T9 to remove an intradural Schwannoma tumor that was ~3cm at its maximum. I had nearly a year of pain (sharp pains and spasms, especially when I sneezed or coughed) before being diagnosed and going in for surgery.
Now, more than two years later, I no longer have spasms or the pain I experienced before the surgery. I am very happy about this, but I now struggle with aching, soreness, tightness, and a general, dull pain near the incision.
I have been through PT and am now on my own to continue recovering. What has been successful for others that are now in long-term recovery? What exercises? What stretches? I am open to anything and just want others to talk with who are going through similar things.
