Sleeping after surgery

Hi, all! I am new to this forum and sincerely wish I had found this years ago. I am recovering from my third lumbar fusion, this one the most extensive of all three; lasting 5 hours and fusing L4 to S1, due to disc degeneration from the L3/L4 fusion. I do remember a lot of sleeping from the last two in 2008 and 2009. Anyone else sleeping most of the day even a week after surgery? I feel great when I wake up, visit and "play" with my children, attempt to help a little but then get quickly exhausted and back up to bed. My pain was not managed in the hospital at all and I stay on it at home. Thank you in advance for your advice!!

Kimberly :-)
