July 8 Microdiscectomy

Well I am scheduled for Microdiscectomy July 8 . Anyone else having this done?

  • I may be scheduling one if my 3rd epidural (this week) doesn't work. How quickly were you able to schedule the surgery after making the decision to move forward?

    Which disc is herniated?

    Good luck!
  • I have three total herniations but they are only going to do surgery on the L5S1. I had two ESI's about a month apart that didn't do much. At the last follow up they gave me the option of another ESI or surgery and I chose surgery. The last follow up and surgery date are about a month apart.

Thanks for the info and good luck!
For me, it's been very hard to gauge the extent to which the ESI's are helping... There is significant, gradual relief, but it never quite gets above 80%-- and my pain is still very strong when doing certain things like lying down or bending.
I can't decide if that's enough to rationalize surgery or not. Very frustrating problem!!
Hope the surgery works for you!
