Coccygeal nerve block

Hi, I am new to this forum and was seeking some answers. I have been having tailbone pain off and on for years. The most recent episode lasting the longest. The pain would get excruciating after sitting and my husband would have to lift me up off my seat.
My husband and I are taking a two week motorcycle trip so I resorted at the suggestion of my pain management doctor to getting a nerve block. My question is, is it normal to have such severe pain after the block? I had it yesterday and today I have to stay in bed to get any relief. If so how long should it last. The pain now is worse than what I went in for.
