July surgery buddies

I'm scheduled for a SI-L5 fusion for sciatica on July 7.I have a large herniated disc with a free floating fragment on the SI nerve. This is my second back fusion surgery. Previous surgery was a L3-L5 fusion in 2009. I'm kind of dreading the surgery. I'm bummed to be missing out on summer activities this year. I could use some online support from those who understand what I'm going through. Anyone else having surgery in July? Thanks :)

Hi! I am having a 360 ALIF/PLIF fusion of L4-S1. I too dislike that I will be missing out on many summer activities but I know next summer I will have less pain and enjoy being able to actually participate in everything with my little ones. Good luck on your surgery! Please keep in touch. :)

Moderators: could you please link this thread into the original July 2014 Surgery Buddies thread. Many thanks!
Grade 1 Anterolisthesis/Spondy L5/S1 with Modic changes and mild disc protrusion, DDD, Osteoarthritis L2/L3, Stenosis, Sciatica, Herniation L4/L5. Scheduled for 360 spinal fusion/decompression July 1, 2014.
  • Hi, good luck on your surgery! I can't imagine dealing with this with small children. :/ I'm thankful mine are older. Thanks for responding!
  • I had mine July 28th and I am amazed how well I'm doing and released to go back to work the 25th. Walking is key, up to 2 miles a day now and I wear my brace most times up to keep the spin stable. Best to you!
