Hi all, when doing push ups 1 year 3 months ago, I felt a sudden pinch in my left neck / left trap. I assumed it was just temporary and would go away after a week as I'd done something similar in the gym before from a shoulder workout. However, the pain continued and still hasn't subsided. I did an MRI which showed nothing, then I did a CT which shows slight narrowing of C3 and C4 vertebrae.
Now, frustratingly for me I live in China and it is very difficult communicating and finding competent doctors here. The first doctor said nothing was wrong and said acupuncture would fix it. We did that for a few months and nothing.
I then went to a more well known hospital and the doctor said I need ACDF. I had never heard of it until he told me, so I've been trying to research it but am finding it difficult to find exactly what I need.
My symptoms aren't nearly as bad as others I've read about. The pain is where my trap meets my neck, some days it feels pretty good, other days it is quite painful, but nothing that stops my life too much. I have full range of motion, though when I move my head to the extreme left it hurts a bit, but the pain is very tolerable. I do exercise and I have had to not go so heavy on shoulder exercises as that aggravates it a little. I have no other pain, no tingling etc. Do I really need ACDF when my symptoms aren't that bad? I will return to England and check with the doctors there, but I want to find out as much as possible beforehand. Is it possible my C3 C4 vertibrae can go back to normal without the surgery as it is only slight narrowing? I've tried acupuncture as I said, and that did nothing. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.
