stabilization with rods & screws - Success/Unsuccessful

I think this is the section I should be in so...

I have at last been referred to a surgeon in Valencia - I had decompression at L3/4 and l4/5 5 years ago and still have very bad sciatica and very severe pain in the groin.

The position in Spain is desperate and the orthopaedic consultant I have been seeing referred me to pain clinic (I have been through all this in England and they told me I was putting the pain on) the consultant said go back in 2 years.

I am taking Pazital and Lyrica and very annoyed that I am still taking these tablets and wondering if they are messing about with my memory.

So I made an appointment with a surgeon privately in Valencia who has had a look at my Xrays and MRI and tells me that he can operate to stabilize my back with rods and screws.

However, as much as I trawl through the internet I can't seem to find any unsuccessful operations. he says that he is going to make a cage of my own bone and insert it with the rods and screws.

I am having to go privately as I don't have health insurance.

Can anyone on the board talk to me about this operation?
