ACDF C5/C6, C6/C7 Op next week -- new member

Hello from Australia! I'm scheduled for an ACDF C5/C6, C6/C7 on Thursday of next week. Though symptoms have been noticeable for over 3 years, once I made the decision to have surgery, things have been scheduled and arranged very quickly. Well, it's taken 4 weeks, but seems faster.
Anyhow, 63 yr old male, excellent physical condition -- non smoker, non drinker, not on any medication, former strength and conditioning coach, work out 5 times a week in our own gym/workout/torture room at home. Dr said I was an excellent candidate for this surgery and for a good recovery, so, here's hoping.
Like all of us, I'm a little concerned about the whole process. I've had some orthopaedic surgeries -- a couple of knee reconstructions, shoulder reconstruction -- but this is seeming a little more daunting than those. Guess I'm older now and more cautious.
Thanks for all of the info on this site -- it helps to know a bit more than I do.
