Am new here! Am seeking anyone who has had or is about to have Spinal Decompression Surgery to resect a Thoracic Intradural Spinal Lipoma that is causing spinal cord compression. My current symptoms are: headache, leg weakness, drop foot, excessive reflexes, numbness, tingling, visual disturbances, bladder probs, dizziness and unsteady on my feet.
My surgery was scheduled for tomorrow, however due to a slight cough it is being delayed until Aug 13 (a month). I understand the surgery will involve neurophysiological monitoring of my spinal cord. A laminectomy of T7-T10. Debulking / aspiration of the tumor. So, my question is to anyone who has undergone this, was your surgery completely successful? in that, was the tumor completely removed or just debulked or partially resected and if so, by how much? Did you experience any further symptoms after your surgery or were they alleviated?
Am understandably quite anxious, I can speak with my neurosurgeon at anytime, in fact I'm seeing him again in a couple of days. But I'm not exactly after any medial opinion at the moment, just case histories and personal experiences.
