I'm not entirely sure where to post this, and I don't have a definite reherniation diagnosis yet (waiting for MRI next week), but my question is, if you had a post-surgery reherniation, what happens next?
For context, I had a microdiscectomy/laminectomy on May 30th. I was pain free for 5 weeks and then the pain in my left leg came back. It's not as severe as before but still not something I want to live with if I don't have to. The surgeon is checking for reherniation of the L5/S1 disc. I had about 75% of it removed initially which was causing severe compression of the nerve root. Given that there is only 25% of the disc left, what happens if I need surgery again? Same surgery or something more complex?
I know I'm putting the cart before the horse here, but I know others here have experienced this and I want to know what to expect as well as potential questions to ask the surgeon.
