sea snail toxins

So my pain management doctor today. I am set for my pain pump trial on August the 8th. Has anyone heard of the sea snail toxin. He says he is going to try this and morphine. I have heard some bad things about the toxins but I would like to hear other thoughts on this new drug. Or whatever it is.

  • The drug the doctor is talking about is Prialt. It has some very dangerous side effects and adverse effects. If you are given a preference, I would suggest the morphine during the trial. The good thing with the pain pumps is that the total amount of medications are greatly reduced and delivered directly into the intrathecal space, so there is much less impact on the body, kidney's and liver.
They can also add medications such as baclofen, and lidocaine in the pumps medications to deliver much lower doses with far more effectiveness.
I would strongly encourage you to do a lot of research into prialt before going ahead with allowing it's use.
  • Thank you Sandy ,I have been looking into this drug for the past hour and see that is has some terrible side effects. I wonder about dilaudid in the pump is it has a lighter molecular weight. And less likely to form granulomas. If I am offered a choice I will take the morphine or dilaudid over the toxins
  • Just wondering if anyone had anyone New of any links to the drug prialt, what I found has been useful but I would like to learn more,
